Daniel Jacobson, David Chaffin and I refound Dean Edward's MOTTLED DUCK about 3:30 EDT on September 6 (Wed.) in a slough on the west side of the 25E bridge crossing Douglas Lake in Jefferson County. There were no ducks on the east side. We got permission to park at the Church of God on the north side of the bridge and walked the shoreline to the next slough west of the bridge where we had seen a few dozen mallards fly. One of the residents was feeding the mallards (300+), 10 Wood Ducks and 1 female Northern Shoveler in their front yard and the Mottled was in this group!! We saw the bird at about 130-40 yards (into the sun) but still got decent looks, but terrible pictures.
