Though I live in Sewanee, TN, I have been staying in Midtown Memphis this
last week and have been impressed at the number of Mississippi Kites I have
seen both in the morning (9:00 am) and in th afternoon as I drive on South
McClean Ave from Central Avenue to the North Parkway. I most often see
the Kites soaring in the vicinity of the intersection of McClean and
Peabody. One afternoon I saw a total of seven Kites as I was driving (and
watching the road, of course).
Living in Sewanee TN, it is a thrill for me to see these beautiful birds
kiting above the tree tops (or high up in the clouds).
I apologize if my sighting falls far short of an authentic rare bird
report for Memphis birders.
