Oct. 28, 2005 I was greatly sadden this evening, when informed of the passing on Thursday evening of Marvin Davis of Oxford Mississippi. Marvin had been birding in the Delta on Wednesday but was rushed to the hospital yesterday morning with chest pains. Ever since I started birding in the late 70's, Marvin was always on the radar screen when it came to birds, birding and birders, especially in Mississippi and his beloved Oklahoma. His gentle kindness, informative insightful input and enthusiasm will be sorely missed by birders everywhere. Gene and Shannon Knight have sent the following announcement: We are all greatly saddened by the sudden death of Marvin Davis. He passed away on Thursday, October 27 at the age of 74. Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 29 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Waller Funeral Home. The funeral will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon at the First Baptist Church with a short visitation at 1:30. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, 800 Van Buren Avenue, Oxford, MS 38655. Flowers have been sent in the name of MOS.
