Today I saw a male Common Merganser on the Little River in Blount County, 1.5
miles upstream from Coulter Bridge.  This is by far the farthest downstream on
the river that one has been seen.  Although I didn't measure upstream, this is
approximately two miles downstream from the Walland bridge, which, within sight
of it, had been the farthest downstream one had been previously noted.  The
area of the river in which the merganser was seen is heavily vegetated, and I
was not able to tell whether there were any additional mergansers present.
