I checked Lake Breckenridge this morning, April 2, and was surprised to find the female Long-tailed Duck still there (since the Great Backyard Bird Count) near the dam. [Most of the time it has been near the dam at the end of Cherry St. There is room along the road to avoid trespassing on the heavily-signed Property Owners' Association parking area. Typing "Lake Breckenridge, TN" into Google Maps brings the location right up. There have been a few times when I haven't been able to find it from there, and once it was near the back of the lake along Limerick Lane (which has similar unwelcoming signage).] The only other waterbirds there were two pairs of Canada Geese, a Ring-necked Duck, and a Common Loon. Yesterday (April 1) there were about 20 Redheads still at a pond along Rt. 101 about 2 miles south of Crossville-they're there every year in March, but have stayed later than usual this year.
