Lincoln County
Fowler Rd Irrigation Pond
All,
Sorry for the delay in this post. I was reviewing yesterdays records to try to
estimate the MEGA blackbird/cowbird/starling flocks (10,000+) now occupying
the Irrigation Pond adjacent cornfields (fields close to 1000 acres estimating
with Google earth). I found a flying 1st year male with the flock. I will be
posting the e-bird checklist either today or tomorrow. The majority of the
blackbird flocks are along the Rush Rd side of the pond. The YHBL was in the
southern cornfield in close proximity to the dam (Rush Rd). It then flew into
the southern woodlot along Rush Rd side (directly across the two houses that
overlook "The Pond"))
And of course the 110+ acre "Pond" still is harboring a good assemblage of
ducks (mostly Mallards, 5 other "puddle" ducks, 4 "divers", all Mergs) and
geese (Canada, Greater-white fronted).
Good Birding
