Yesterday, April 27, a group of birders at Edwin Warner Park, including Susan Bradfield, Kathy Shaw, and Ed Gleaves, had a long, lingering look at a lovely Lark Sparrow in full song. The group also included some novice and intermediate birders who shared in the experience. In all, it was a good day for birds, with over 50 species in three hours, including a nesting Yellow-throated Vireo near the Nature Center. A few other neo-tropical migrants/recent arrivals: Yellow-billed Cuckoo Chimney Swift Eastern Phoebe (nesting) Great Crested Flycatcher Eastern Kingbird Barn Swallow Blue-gray Gnatcatcher Wood Thrush Blue-headed Vireo Red-eyed Vireo Blue-wing Warbler Tennessee Warbler Cape May Warbler Black-throated Green Warbler Louisiana Waterthrush Kentucky Warbler Yellow-breasted Chat Summer Tanager Scarlet Tanager Indigo Bunting A good day, indeed!
