Thanks to a call from Ron Hoff and Dollyann Myers, who had gotten a call from another birder about a large black gull, we arrived this evening at the boat ramp in Concord Park across from the entrance to the marina on Northshore Drive in west Knox County. Gail almost immediately saw a very dark-backed gull that we decided was an adult Lesser Black-backed. It was roosting with Herrings and Ring-billeds. Smaller than Herrings and larger than Ring-billeds. Yellow bill with bright red gony. John O'Barr arrived in time to see it. After a couple of minutes, A Bald Eagle glided over and all of the gulls flew west. Some of them returned and some landed to roost farther out to the west. Ron and Dollyann, Beth Schilling and Jimmy Tucker joined the group but we could not refind the gull. Steve & Gail Clendenen Farragut, Knox County
