Over the last few days, in addition to the Purple Gallinule turned over to the rehabber here in TN, there have been 3 seperate sightings of Purple Gallinule in KY. The last one, today, was on a farm pond. While 25+ years ago Purple Gallinule was somewhat regular in TN, at Reelfoot Lake anyway, they have been decidedly rare since then. Looks like scanning any water with some cover over the next few days might turn up a goodie! It's funny that there hasn't been a similar rash of Common Moorhen sightings, the more expected species.
