Welcome to March and the annual Rusty Blackbird Blitz! Join me this Thursday
for a Jay Walk (an impromptu, supplemental KTOS field trip) at Forks of the
River WMA to look for Rusty Blackbirds, a beautiful but drastically declining
species. To learn more about the blitz visit www.rustyblackbird.org
Other possible sightings include Bald Eagles, Tree Swallows, Golden-crowned
Kinglets, a lovely stretch of river, budding trees, American Pipits, Eastern
Meadowlarks, a handsome field trip leader, a variety of sparrows, and much more.
Meet at the parking lot at the end of McClure Lane at 8 a.m. The walk should
last about three hours. For directions, see the TN Watchable Wildlife site at
http://www.tnwatchablewildlife.org/watchareadetails.cfm?uid=10032816101792223®ion=Forks_of_the_River_WMA&statearea=East_Tennessee
This is a free event. No RSVP required, and you do not have to be a member of
KTOS to attend. See you there!
