Birders, This report may not go through and that's ok . Our experiences here with Whooping Cranes made me think it might be important. My son called this afternoon at 2:30PM CST from his home in Mulvane, KS reporting he saw 25 Whooping Cranes flying Northwest at about 400'. The day is clear and bright. He is sure thay are Whoopers-he is a world birder with 17 years experience in the USAF and birding experience all over the world. These birds were flying in formation , were very white with black wing-tips and black legs. He has seen Whooping cranes before in the US-Texas. He lives on a direct path from Aransas, TX to the north country of Canada. He also lives very close to a huge wetland near the Arkansas River. It seems interesting to me that he saw the birds-tho accidental. He had been watching two AF bombers fly over. Linda V.
