Today Linda Kelly and I spent a windy morning roaming the fields and hills
of Bells Bend checking out the birds in advance of the Bells Bend bird
walk on Friday morning. No Henslow's Sparrows this time but a quartet of
Grasshopper Sparrows plus plenty of Red-wing Blackbirds (40), Field Sparrows
(35), Eastern Bluebirds (25), Eastern Meadowlarks (25), and a family reunion
of Palm Warblers (20).

Others in varying numbers included the following:
    *   Northern Bobwhite
    *   Black Vulture
    *   Turkey Vulture
    *   Killdeer
    *   Mourning Dove
    *   Chimney Swift
    *   Red-bellied Woodpecker
    *   Eastern Kingbird
    *   American Crow
    *   Carolina Chickadee
    *   Tufted Titmouse
    *   Northern Mockingbird
    *   Brown Thrasher
    *   Yellow-throated Warbler
    *   Prairie Warbler
    *   Eastern Towhee
    *   Savannah Sparrow
    *   White-throated Sparrow
    *   Common Grackle
    *   Brown-headed Cowbird
    *   Orchard Oriole
    *   American Goldfinch
For further information on the Friday bird walk (7:30-9:30), call (615)

or just show up with your binoculars at the ready.
