This morning I checked out Standifer Gap Marsh, hoping to find the merlin that Libby Wolfe and Bruce Dralle ahd reported. I did observe a red-tailed hawk perched in a tree. There were several gadwalls and teals in the front pond and a female Northern harrier flew from the marsh and began diving at them. The red-tail joined in and drove the harrier off. On my way out I observed a red-shouldered surrounded by crows in a tree on the north side of the marsh. I checked back at SGM later in the afternoon and finally located the merlin.
