The Fulvous whistling-duck remains at the Pits in Shelby County. It is sleeping on one of the dikes in the area previously described, in the big center pond north of the east/west Levee road. In company of Blue-winged teal, Black-bellied's, and mallards, most of them sleeping here at just after noon. Stilts are attending nests. Water levels are high and I haven't been everywhere yet, but I see few shorebirds in this area. Is there a numbering system in place for these pools that I'm not aware of? I haven't figured out an efficient way to describe them. Gail King 5595 Ashley Sq. N. Memphis, Tn 38120 901-268-0035 "What is this feathered thing that lifts my heart to the heavens"?
