[TN-Bird] Fulvous Whistling-Duck reports

A question was asked regarding whether or not the Fulvous Whistling-Duck
(FUWD) currently being seen near Nashville should be reported to the
Tennessee Bird Records Committee.

While definitely a rare bird in TN, FUWD is on the Regular State list
as a confirmed species with over 10 records and/or reports and some
photos. Though most are from the western end of the state, there
are previous records from Middle and East TN. Therefore, while a
report to the TBRC would certainly be welcome, under the current
guidelines of the Committee, it is not specifically "requested".

I am hoping that we (the TBRC) will soon have an article in the
Warbler giving additional guidance on what sightings the TBRC does
"request" reports for as well as a list of species that have been
reported in the state for which the Committee is still seeking
submissions.

I DO think it would be an excellent idea to have this FUWD report
written up for The Migrant and STRONGLY encourage someone to do so.

In my personal opinion (not officially speaking for the TBRC now),
that more effort needs to be put forth by the birding community in TN
(myself certainly included) to more thouroughly document bird
sightings in fourms such as The Migrant. While reports on TN-Birds
are certainly invaluable, they should not be seen as a replacement
for submission to The Migrant and the Records Committee.
