Fred Carney, a TOS member since 1934, passed away Friday, November 19, 2010,at his home in Memphis at age 94. Fred was an attorney, a leader in theBoy Scouts and a Navy and Coast Guard veteran, commander of a destroyer during WWII. He is survived by Doris Carney, his wife of 41 years, three children, eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Fred served in TOS in several capacities, including president of the Memphis chapter in 1988-1989. He was one of the few people whose Life List included a confirmedsighting of an Ivory-billed Woodpecker, c. 1923. Services will beTuesday, November 23, 11 am, at Trinity Methodist Church in Memphis.
