TN-birders,
Dollyann and I went out to the Eagle Bend fish hatchery in Anderson County
early this morning and had a productive day. We again found the American
Golden-Plover that has been seen out there recently. This bird can be a bit
difficult to track down sometimes. You just have to keep looking at all the
Killdeer, since it’s nearly the same size as one. Only 2 Least Sandpipers and 2
Spotted Sandpipers rounded out the shorebirds.
What we did have was a good movement of other passerines in the trees and
shrubbery along the river. We had 6 species of warblers and 2 House Wrens, our
5th record of the wren here and the first time we have had more than 1. Also
had our first Ring-billed Gull record for this fall.
34 species total, where we usually only get about 25 or so.
Great birding,
