While on the way home from work (school) we passed by what I have dubbed as "Alex's pond" (named for one of my students- it's her home & pond) & were greeted with a nice surprise! We had a beautiful male shoveler, 3 blue-winged teal (one male, 2 female, and a merganser- probably common but unsure...lighting was horrible & so was the traffic....definitely a larger merganser than the hooded (besides, our hoodeds have been absent for awhile)...so, we were thrilled. This little pond often has a treat.
