TN-birders,
Just getting back into some county birding after a long trip. Here are a few of
the birds we have had recently that folks might be interested in.
Saturday:
Hamblen County – There is a water treatment plant on highway 160, east of exit
12 on I-81. You can scope from the road but still find some of the goodies
there, which for us was a Snowy Egret, White-rumped Sandpiper, and Semipalmated
Plover. Beth Schilling and Mort Massey also had a Sora there earlier in the
day, but we couldn’t find it.
Today:
Campbell Co. – Went with some friends up to Cove Lake where we found a
Swainson’s Warbler in the usual place in the woods at the north end of the
park. We then drove up Old highway 63 (which is just across the interstate at
the same exit; instead up going left at Shoney’s to go up Cross Mountain, go
straight north) to look for birds. On our way out Frank Bills found a
Black-billed Cuckoo. We had lots of warblers singing along the road.
Great birding,
Ron Hoff & Dollyann Myers
