The 21st annual Cades Cove CBC was held on 29 December 2019 with 16
participants in nine parties and one feeder watcher. It was unseasonably
warm and windy with temperatures between 60 and 73 degrees.
58 species were recorded which is slightly below average for this count.
The most unusual species seen were Palm Warbler and Pine Warbler which have
not been recorded on the count in almost ten years. Sedge Wren was a new
species for the count which was seen by Tom Howe in Cades Cove.
Waterfowl were mostly absent or seen in low numbers. Pine Siskins,
Red-breasted Nuthatches, and Purple Finches were absent.
No vultures were observed.
