There were actually TWO birds in Chattanooga at that time. There has also been speculation as to whether some of these inland, northern reports are of actual Great White Herons from the Florida Keys or of abnormally plumaged birds from local populations. I reviewed 2 or 3 GWHE reports while on the TN Bird Records Committee. Those were well documented with several photos which I felt were good for GWHE (and were unanimously accepted as such by the Committee).
