Laurie and I rode with Dollyann Myers and Ron Hoff yesterday on a trip up to
Mossy Creek and Cherokee Dam in Jefferson County. Mossy Creek was pretty dead,
but below Cherokee Dam we saw big numbers of Bonaparte's gulls. Our best
estimate was at least 750. What a beautiful sight to see several large flocks
wheeling and dipping. Other birds of note at the dam included a bald eagle
flyover and a juvenile black-crowned night heron.
