Spent some time Sat morning (24 Feb 2007) birding around the Louisville area of Blount County. At Hitch Pond and the Phelps Dairy Farm, I had the best concentration of ducks that I've had there in several years. On Roy Goddard Rd, found a bat impaled on barbwire as part of the local Loggerhead Shrike's cache. Appeared to be an Eastern Red Bat based on what was left. First time I've ever seen a bat in a shrike cache. I found 3 different shrike caches but no birds seen. The one on Roy Goddard Road, one on Light Pink Rd near the intersection with Lowes Ferry Rd, and one at the Phelp's Dairy Farm.
