Undoubtedly everyone that wants to see a Redpoll in TN has headed to the
Pullium's, except me.. Thus, had to settle for checking Cove Lake ithis morning
n hopes of finding my "own" rarity. (Cove Lake St Pk Campbell County TN)
A nice find was a gorgeous Common Merganser (Male), a rare bird for the park.
( 1) Horned Grebe, good numbers of American Wigeon and assorted other ducks..
The Bald Eagle put on a show chasing ducks across the lake, pushing them even
closer to me.
Did a thorough survey of the whole park for about 3 hrs. No Tree Swallows in
yet. Those were what I went to look for this morning. Was a fun morning with
good looks at all species.
If you want to see this Merganser, I would suggest do it quickly, (today if
possible) before the front hits tonight. They usually do not stay around long
in this location. He was mostly resting and not eating, so my bet is he will
head out soon.
