Saturday, April 9, 2005 Mt. Orange (just outside Trenton), Gibson Co. For the 2nd time in 6 months I had an immature Bald Eagle soaring over my house. Saturday while mowing the yard I saw a large raptor flying. All the Purple Martins from the colony in my yard flew up to harass it. From a distance I could tell it was larger than a Red-tailed Hawk. As I got closer I saw the massive bill and knew immediately it was another Bald Eagle. I grabbed my binoculars from the truck and got excellent views as the bird cruised casually overhead. I called fo my two sons to come have a look and they both got good looks through my binoculars as well. Always exciting to have a Bald Eagle fly over!
