I made a quick run over to Bells Bend before work this morning, and had a
continuing (from over the weekend) Grasshopper Sparrow along Old Hickory Blvd.
This is a pretty uncommon bird in Middle TN, although there are a few staked
out here and there. The bird was heard in the large field behind the first
group of hay bales on the right side of the road near the gray barn (where the
Harris's Sparrow was seen over the winter). I didn't have much time to scan,
and so I never saw it, but it sang repeatedly, albeit distantly, for the entire
5 minutes or so that I was there. Also had a couple of singing Dickcissels at
the same spot. For those on ebird, the "Bells Bend--Old Hickory Blvd" hotspot,
is the exact location from which I had the bird.
