February 11, 2013 good news ! We checked on the eagles at Windy Hill Farm and
to our surprise one was sitting in the nest , easily seen through our scope.
Then suddenly a second adult flies in and lands on the edge of the nest . Less
than a minute later the sitter climbs out of the nest and stands beside the
incoming eagle. Then if you please the incoming one mounts the female ,just
like that ! No shame !! He hops off to the nest edge , then moves to a branch
,shakes his body to rearrange his feathers and shortly flies off across the
farm, soars a bit and finally disappears up river ( Tennessee ) perhaps to
catch a fish .Meanwhile she sat back down in the nest to continue incubation of
egg (s). I kid you ,not she had a smile on her face !! This brings to mind the
question how long between copulation and egg laying in Bald Eagles ?  At last
,after months of  no- show  the eagles are doing their thing at Windy Hill
Farm. Last year they fledged one
 eaglet .

Later we spotted two Loggerhead Shrikes in the Axley Chappel/ Fisher Lane area .
Bird On !!
