Shane, that appears to be a grackle to me. I have a lot nesting in my Halifax neighborhood as well. Along the same lines, as I was walking the block yesterday evening I noticed my neighbor holding something....a baby bluejay. She was going to put in a shoe box and keep it away from the cats.......grimace! I didn't say anything because its too late, but I have been taught its best not to handle baby birds and contaminate with human scent. Not so much that the parents would reject them, but the predators would follow the human scent out of curiosity. Anybody have any thoughts on this one?
