Several weeks ago I bought a simple bird bath and put in in my back yard. It has turned into quite the attraction especially as the weather gets drier and after it has been cleaned and fresh water added which I do almost daily. I have noticed Grackles coming to the water and dunking something in the bath like they are cleaning their catch. At times in appears to be vegetation other times large insects. This morning as I was cleaning the bath I noticed two large wings in the water that had red lines in them. Just wondering if these were Cicada wings. I haven't heard any but it seems the Grackles may be finding what few that may be around.
