Hi All: Took advantage of the nice weather and a canceled appointment and journeyed over to Cross Creeks Wildlife Refuge in Steward County. Was ever so glad to find the gates open since my last trip there 2 weekends ago. Today we were treated to the following birds: Blue-winged Teals (22 or so) Pied Billed Grebes (2) Cardinals Bluebirds Great Blue Herons (12-15) Coots Crows Red-winged Blackbirds Canada Geese Meadowlarks Killdeer Grackles Osprey (2) Bald Eagles (2) Morning Doves Black Swan (probable "escapee" mingling with the Canada geese) American Wigeon (4) Clift Swallows Red-tailed Hawk Snipes (4) down from the 150 of 2 weeks ago Great Egret (1) in beautiful plumage Lesser Yellowlegs (3) Greater Yellowlegs (1) Unidentified "LBJ's" No signs of any Ring-billed or Bonaparte Gulls today as opposed to the several dozen of each wandering through 2 weeks ago. A most enjoyable afternoon!
