With the wind coming primarily from the south yesterday we didn't have high expectations this morning as we began looking into our yard. But were we surprised to have five sparrows in the same binocular view - House, White-throated, a new almost white-striped White-crowned, the first Swamp this year, and two gorgeous Fox. We also saw a single Ruby-crowned Kinglet that brought the usual smile to our faces with his tiny beauty. Yellow-rumpted Warblers are still flashing around the yard. But our immature male Ruby-throated Hummingbird apparently left this morning. He was at the feeders late yesterday afternoon but we've not seen him so far today. If he had stayed until Monday we would have had Ruby-throateds in the yard for exactly 8 months as our first one came March 30. But the feeders are staying out just in case there is a Rufous, Allen's, Costa's, or Anna's looking for a place to eat this winter.
