There was a noticeable uptick in the number of migrants at Radnor Lake in the last week or so. This morning Jan Shaw and I counted 9 Blue-gray Gnatcatchers, 3 (maybe 4) Louisiana Waterthrushes, 2 Black- and-white Warblers, 1 Black-throated Green Warbler, 4 Chimney Swifts, 2 Purple Martins, 12+ Tree Swallows, and a pair of Purple Finches. Although Kinglet numbers were down with just 1 Golden-crowned and a few Ruby-Crowned being spotted, Cedar Waxwings and Yellow-rumped Warblers are still plentiful along the side of the lake, particularly on the western and southern side. Also seen were Hairy Woodpecker, Winter Wren, Brown Creeper, Field Sparrow, 6+ Wood Ducks, American Wigeon, Gadwall, Bufflehead, Ring-necked Duck and Pie-billed Grebe.
