The 108th CBC season officially begins tomorrow, Dec. 14, but the count week period for many TN CBCs started yesterday; hope you've been able to get out and check a few of the local birding sites within your CBC circle if your CBC takes place Saturday. I got out a little this morning and found Red-breasted Merganser and Bonaparte's Gull on the lake at Cane Creek Park. Since neither is a regular species on the Cookeville CBC, they were nice count week species to record. If you need to refresh your memory about species that would benefit from documentation on TN CBCs, please visit this page of my website which lists all species ever recorded on TN CBCs in the past and provides annotations for those for which some details or photos would be helpful to CBC compilers: ttp://iweb.tntech.edu/sstedman/CBCDocumentationSpeciesTN.htm (copy, paste into your browser, and add an "h" at the beginning of the address). This page also has a link to a table of data about all 51 sites where CBCs have been conducted in TN in the past. The table includes information about when each TN CBC was first conducted and last conducted, as well as infomation about the total number of CBCs that have been conducted at each site and the number for the most recent consecutive series of CBCs conducted at each site; this page in turn has a link to a map of TN showing the location of all active and inactive CBC sites in the state. Hope your CBC season is a good one, Steve Stedman Editor of CBCs, TN, American Birds Cookeville, TN =================NOTES TO SUBSCRIBER===================== The TN-Bird Net requires you to SIGN YOUR MESSAGE with first and last name, CITY (TOWN) and state abbreviation.
