In theory the battery can be replaced, but it is not for the average person to do, it requires the player to be disassembled.

Some of mine may be on the verge then so that's good to know. I assume you just need to get a new player when that happens. Is this correct? I have three players here - and a fourth given to a friend, so I'd better be prepared. They weren't all bought at the same time though so they shouldn't all go at once; also, they don't all get used exactly the same amount.-- Cheryl I tried and tried to turn over a new leaf. I got crumpled wads of tear-stained paper thrown in the trash! Then God gave me a new heart and life: His joy for my despairing tears! And now, every day: "This I call to mind, and therefore I have hope: The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness." SanDisk acted on those suggestions and produced the Clip zip. There are several improvements the most noticeable being of course the redesign of the controls which makes it a lot easier for folks who are completely blind or have other issues such as neuropathy to control the player more precisely. SanDisk also used a higher quality FM chip in the Clip Zip which makes the radio sound much better and it gathers in more stations. There are other smaller design changes dealing with the position of a couple of buttons and a slightly larger size. My personal opinion is that if I had a choice of using a Clip Plus or a Clip zip, I would always take the Clip Zip hands down. They're also priced the same right now, so price shouldn't be a consideration as to which one to get. If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask away. Happy New Year!
