Canada's ban on rosin is strange. Canada's environmental activists must have been looking for some way to play one-up on the rest of the world. Maybe they wanted to join the Nobel Peace Prize committee in displaying their beliefs to the rest of the world.

What claim do the perpetrators make to warrant their ban? Public health? For those who are still able to think for themselves, the underlying motivation is obvious: political power to tell others what they can't do.

So rosin is to be banned from products "manufactured and sold" in Canada. I wonder if that applies to lumber, which is a major Canadian industry.

In any case, a ban on rosin in electronics is utterly unenforceable. Unlike Pb, any rosin used in manufacture is removed during cleaning. How would a government inspector detect any residues?
