Taking my previous example, the same .REG file to be used under NT4 would look like :- REGEDIT4 [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings] "ProxyServer"="proxy:81" The previous example still stands as being correct for Win2k. - -----Original Message----- From: Evan Mann [mailto:emann@xxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Friday, 30 August 2002 06:58 To: 'thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx' Subject: [THIN] Re: silent reg. install.. Also, I'd like to add ,not sure if it's necessary or not, but every .REG file or registry file I've created, had REGEDIT4 as the first line in the file. If you want to remove a key, you add a - before the key: ex: [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\some\key\to\delete] - -----Original Message----- From: Simon Horn [mailto:simon.horn@xxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Thursday, August 29, 2002 4:55 PM To: 'thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx' Subject: [THIN] Re: silent reg. install.. Hi Paul, You need to create a .REG file, lets say for example TEST.REG, which you then execute by running REGEDIT /S TEST.REG. An example of a .REG file. An example .REG file that will work under Win2k, to let's say change the current users proxy server would be : Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings] "ProxyServer"="proxy:81" Also, I read somewhere that if access to registry editing tools has been disabled via registry/policy, a REGEDIT /S apparently still works.. I haven't properly tested this out yet though. Cheers, Simon - -----Original Message----- From: Paul Beckman [mailto:pbeckman@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Friday, 30 August 2002 06:40 To: 'thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx' Subject: [THIN] silent reg. install..
