Here's what I got in an e-mail - don't know if it actually sheds any
additional light. The item I found most intriguing is "The ability to
prioritize users and applications ensures the best experience for critical
use cases." - perhaps tame some runaway apps without isolation?

 Introducing Citrix XenApp 5

*Citrix is pleased to announce that Citrix XenApp™ 5 will be released for
general availability on September 10, 2008.*

Hear from Bill Burley <http://info.citrix.com/Key=21079.D3B.J.2.LsJ9ty>,
Vice President of Product Management for Citrix Application Virtualization
Group, why XenApp 5 brings exciting new capabilities to customers.

*Introducing XenApp 5 - The Next-Gen of Presentation Server
*Citrix Presentation Server™ 4.5 introduced the Platinum Edition, which
provided comprehensive monitoring, management and security, and the ability
to centralize, manage and deliver applications to users on demand-even when
offline.

Building on that success, XenApp 5 introduces significant enhancements for
application streaming and isolation, a completely redesigned, easy-to-use
end user experience and powerful end user performance monitoring tools. In
total, XenApp 5 includes more than 50 new features and enhancements that
simplify and streamline management and support, substantially reduce the
total cost of ownership and improve the overall end user experience. Now,
more than ever, XenApp 5 is the best option for delivering all Windows(R)
applications to both connected and mobile users.

****

*XenApp 5 Highlights***

*Delivery of ALL Windows Applications*

*-*

New inter-isolation communication capabilities simplify how virtual
applications are packaged, maintained and updated, and ensure that the
applications can interoperate as if they were installed locally.

 *-*

Support for application streaming via HTTP and HTTPS provides more
flexibility for application delivery.

 *User Experience 2.0*

*-*

XenApp 5 includes a redesigned, intuitive and consistent user experience on
the desktop and over the Web.

 *-*

The ability to prioritize users and applications ensures the best experience
for critical use cases.

 *Application Performance Monitoring and Support*

*-*

Significantly expanded monitoring provides rich data into the user
experience to enable faster and better assessments of performance issues.

 *-*

New end user simulation tools allow administrators to proactively identify
performance issues before they are experienced by end users. This capability
allows IT organizations to track the performance of real-world end user
tasks and measure their performance against service level commitments.

*Support for Windows Server 2003 and 2008*

*-*

XenApp 5 leverages the architectural enhancements in Windows Server(R) 2008 to
improve security and manageability. For example, administrators will now be
able to apply patches to Terminal Services without needing to reboot.

 *-*

XenApp farms can now contain both Windows Server 2003 and 2008, allowing
customers to begin migrating to Windows Server 2008 right away.

*The Value of XenApp for Your Business
*XenApp 5 provides support for even more applications, allowing partners to
expand their footprint with existing customers. The new monitoring
capabilities provide the opportunity for partners to build custom reporting
solutions for their customers. XenApp Platinum edition provides the
opportunity to increase revenue opportunities through customer upgrades and
maximize profitability on license revenue, Subscription Advantage and
Advisor Rewards.
