opendsobject is a method for authentication using ADSI to objects or the
namespace.

It *tends* to be used for authentication using alternate credentials.

In the example shown, I'm a little bemused why the functionality wasn't
achieved by getobject.

There's nothing wrong with using opendsobject, for the right reasons.
But it's not recommended when using the WinNT provider (actually,
normally *because* you're likely to be using alternate credentials -
that being the reason for using this method).
