From my BusinessObjects administrator....

From our experience the performance on thin client is relatively similar
(perhaps a bit slower) to running BusinessObjects on a local machine using
the same configuration. (ie data is channelled via a connection on the
BusinessObjects server.)

The only meaningful performance increase is when you use local connections
to pull data directly from the database straight to your workstation.
However, this would be a nightmare to administer on a larger scale

Running BusinessObjects on workstations would have far worse impact on
Network utilisation as large amounts of data would be travelling around WAN
links.

In the long term it would be better to move to using the web version on
BusinessObjects. This is where the full client functionality is provided
via a web interface and all processing and data transfer would occur
between the BusinessObjects server and web server. This is perfect for
situations where only small amounts of bandwidth is available and this is
how we envision BusinessObjects being available for schools.

This may be of use to someone else as it drove me nutty for a while this
evening.....
I was just uploading a few files to my xbox and i was unable to connect via
ftp... all very strange until i reliased that the culprit was the new
Citrix Advanced Gateway client. Removed it and voila all started working
again.
Im going to log a fault call with Citrix in the morning .....
