If it ain't broke..... MF SP3 does offer greatly enhanced printing features. I'd try the upgrade on a test server and do a pilot and then roll after it was tested. As you can see in XE103W2K016 hotfix CTX102359 even SP3 has printing problems! Damned if you do...damned if you don't. http://support.citrix.com/kb/entry!default.jspa?categoryID=120 <http://support.citrix.com/kb/entry!default.jspa?categoryID=120&entryID= 2862> &entryID=2862 It is best to figure out the root of the problem cause there is no guarantee that SP3 will fix it. And I'll take this as a "just don't upgrade" recommendation... ;-) Thanks again. -Dave Melczer dmelczer@xxxxxxxx <mailto:dmelczer@xxxxxxxx> -----Original Message----- From: Jim Kenzig http://thethin.net [mailto:jimkenz@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Monday, January 26, 2004 10:32 AM To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [THIN] Re: Upgrade recommendation Uninstall all of the client software on the client machine (clean the registry of citrix entries) and reinstall the client and see if it helps. We found older versions of the client will cause this problem. If that does not resolve it, Get http://thethin.net/pdmanager.zip <http://thethin.net/pdmanager.zip> and look at ALL the printer drivers they have installed on the client and delete the ones that they are not using. Check the spelling of the printer drivers on the client machine and be certain you have aliased them to a known good driver that works in citrix in the CMC. The spelling must match exactly! For quite a while, I've been running MF XP 1.0, FR1/SP2 on Windows 2000 SP4. I've applied every hotfix I can to these machines, but I get the same problem repeatedly: 1 user, when connecting, causes our print spooler to crash. I have it set to restart after 1 minute, but the user must logoff and the logon again to get their printers to create properly. I'm tempted to upgrade to MF XP 1.0 SP3, but I have heard some real horror stories regarding MF SP3's interaction with 2000 SP4. What is the recommended upgrade procedure, if I decide to upgrade, ie what hotfixes are recommended to keep the servers somewhat stable (right now they appear to be pretty solid, with reboots once weekly -- knock on wood)? Thanks in advance for any advice. -Dave Melczer dmelczer@xxxxxxxx <mailto:dmelczer@xxxxxxxx>
