We have the same problem and the answers was either install a RADIUS
server so that the USB is auth differently or change from USB to
Internal PCI wireless cards that auth at a different time than the USB
ones.

We have several thin clients running Win 98. We want to use USB wireless
adapters for connection to Terminal Servers. Some users have a direct
connection to the desktop. The problem is that the connection is in
their startup menu and it launches before the adapter has a chance to
authenticate. Any workaround for this problem other than taking it out
of startup?
