Sorry for so many posts in quick succession. I guess I'm not thinking very clearly today: when using Print-IT (or any other RDS print solution) over a WAN, does the type of driver even matter? If Print-IT is collecting the data, squashing into EMF and sending it to the local print server (or client PC if there is no local print server) then the driver is only relevant to the communication between the print server and printer, correct? IOW, the print driver is only relevant in circumstances where is has to be installed on the RDS server. So it seems I've been wasting bandwidth on this list - sorry! We've run into trouble with this before - not with Canon's UFR, but with cheaper HP lasers which didnt have JetDirect. I assume the same reliance on host processing is what makes cheap inkjets such a PITA on RDS WANs. I'm planning on using the PCL5e/5c drivers. The tech guy from company that sold us the device suggested using the UFR drivers (hence my query on this email list) Thanks, Sean ----- Original Message ----- From: Sean Diggins <diggo@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Thu, 16 Dec 2010 15:32:46 +0800 (WST) Subject: [THIN] Re: UFR II Printer drivers vs PCL5e/5c Apologies if this has been asked before: we run a Server 2008 R2 farm with some head office users on RDS via LAN, plus three offices on a WAN. We use vWorkspace Print-IT in the WAN offices. We've just taken delivery of a Canon ir2550i multifunction color scanner/printer. Should I use UFR II drivers, or PCL5e/5c drivers for optimal WAN performance with Print-IT?
