I'm a little confused as to a current configuration and wondered if this was accurate or not. Running a PS 4.0 farm on W2K3. My general understanding of the summary database and data collector is essentially all of the servers in the farm have a local rm database. The designated data collector collects summary data from the other servers. If there are multiple zones, each data collector for their respective zone does the collection and then sends that data to the datastore once every 24 hours. If I'm wrong on the above, then disregard the rest until I get it right. :) If correct, then proceding....the datastore can be a SQL db or Oracle. In this case an oracle DB so the data collectors needs a system DSN defined. My question is if the majority of the servers just pass along data to the data collectors, do any of those needs a system dsn and oracle client installed OR just the designated data collectors?
