Yes, I saw this as well, which is a problem for us as we are doing published apps only and no desktops. So I need to get my users to a desktop to add their PSTs. My thought is that it's a bug in the hotfix, or there is some other part of the post SP1 rollup that is part of this that makes this work normally. For now, I'm willing to wait for Office 2003 SP2 and see what happens. ________________________________ From: thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx on behalf of DMelczer@xxxxxxxx Sent: Tue 8/2/2005 10:31 AM To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [THIN] Re: Revisited: PST's crashing outlook Thank you Evan...excellent find! One thing I noted after applying this hotfix is that I no longer have the option of adding a new PST from within Outlook's tools menu...now, I have to go through control panel in order to add a PST, but it works fine from there. -Dave Melczer dmelczer@xxxxxxxx ________________________________ From: thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Evan Mann Sent: Friday, July 29, 2005 4:36 PM To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [THIN] Re: Revisited: PST's crashing outlook Fixed. Microsoft released Office 2003 Post SP1 hotfix rollup on March 30th. It is only available by contacting PSS however (I have no idea why given the age) http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;896253 Call to get it for free. It fixes this issue. On a side note, Office 2003 SP2 has been released internally at Microsoft, so I'd imagine it will be available to public soon. ________________________________ From: thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Jim Kenzig Kenzig.com Sent: Friday, July 29, 2005 4:25 PM To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [THIN] Re: Revisited: PST's crashing outlook Windows 2003 (no SP1) Exchange 2003 6.5.7226.0 Following KB Hotfixes 819696 823182 823353 823559 824105 824151 825119 828035 828741 831464 833987 835732 837001 839643 839645 840315 840374 840987 841356 841533 842773 867460 873333 873376 883935 885250 885834 885835 885836 885881 886903 888113 890175 891711 891781 890859 890923 893066 893086 Citrix MPS 4 3.2Ghz Xeon BLp20 4 gb MS outlook 2003 11.6359.6408 Sp1 JK Evan Mann <emann@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote: Can you give me a few more details: Version/service pack level of Exchange Version/service pack level of Windows Version/service pack level of Office 2003 Version of Citrix ________________________________ From: thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Jim Kenzig Kenzig.com Sent: Friday, July 29, 2005 2:05 PM To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [THIN] Re: Revisited: PST's crashing outlook We are running them just fine here on HP blp20 blades with 4 gig. Many of them have said they contacted MS and MS said that Outlook 2003 and a PST will crash on a server with 4gb of RAM or more. They told these people to reduce the RAM or wait for a Hotfix. Some suggested a PAE problem. I don't use /PAE so I tried /NOPAE and have the same result. Someone suggested a PAE hotfix, but the user replied to them saying they had 2003 SP1 so the hotfix was included in SP1. One person said they have 4 servers with 4gb of RAM, 2 Compaq and 2 Dell, and that they only had the problem on the Dell servers. I'm not running OpenManage on my Dell servers which are effected. Does anyone with a 2003 Server and 4GB of RAM and Outlook 2003 want to test out working with PSTs and let me know the results? ********************************************************************** Please be advised that this transmittal may be a confidential attorney-client communication or may otherwise be privileged or confidential.
