Hello Thinner's. Hoping someone can help us sort out a long term solution to
a very annoying re-occurring problem.

Our access gateway's are currently running firmware version 4.5.7 (Upgrade
to 4.6 is set to occur in about two weeks). The citrix secure access client
version is 457121. (this issue has persisted through 2 version upgrades so
far).

On laptop systems that have the Secure Access client installed, after a user
has been working remotely for any period of time and using vpn, when they
come back into the offices their (windows XP sp2) laptop will be unable to
connect to any UNC path.

If you review the properties of their local area connection, it will show NO
check box for "File and Printer sharing for MS networks". If you put a check
mark on that box a pop-up appears asking if you're sure you want to
"disable" file and printer sharing. (yes, prompts you about disabling it,
even though it looks like you're enabling it).

Our fix at this point, is to stop the "shell hardware detection" service,
un-install the network card from device manager. Reboot, log in, have
windows re-detect the network card, log off, and log back in . . the user's
laptop is now back on the network.

We only see this happen on systems that have the Secure Access Client
software installed. Browsing around citrix's support site (and other places)
I have yet to see anyone else running into something like this.

I've read through the "fix" notes for firmware 4.6 and didn't see any
mention of a fix for this issue in there, so my hopes aren't high that that
upgrade will help us.

Has anyone else see this and / or does anyone have any suggestions on a
permanent solution?

Thanks much and happy Monday all,

Lan
