It is indeed Environment Manager.
Im just about to migrate from an older version to 6.1 and have noticed this
option called Desktop Device Control.

"When Desktop Device Control is enabled, all mass storage devices attached
to USB will be disabled. Specify exceptions for individual users and groups
by adding them to the Exceptions list."

My guess is you need to use Environment manager. Application manager can
only lock down files and .exes as far as I'm aware and works with trusted
ownership of files (well that's the simplistic explanation). Not used
Environment manger before. I was wondering what config you could use by
locking down files and Exes to disable USB !!! I guess maybe if you know
the driver in uses it's possible. Let me know your findings.

I can't know everything Rick. Otherwise I'd be working for Volante :)

Malcolm, I think you need to use a combination of Application and
Environment Manager, but I get confused between the two. I don't know them
well enough to tell you how. I'm doing my first deployment in about a month,
so I gess I'll be learning all about it on the fly. Sorry I can't be of more
help. But I did see them demonstrate this.

Cheers.

HI jeremy,

For shame...

There's a West Australian company that's a subsidiary of Systemics making a
very nice product to protect against pod slurping.

Appsense will do this very well, but there may be some cheaper alternatives
that I am unaware of.

Cheers.

Hi ,

We have put out a number of fat clients lately and are concerned about users
using the USB devices for non business related activity.

Is there any particular product that is being used or recommended. We intend
to upgrade to PS 4 for XP shortly so something compatible if possible.

Thanks

Ronnie
