Funny you mention this - we use the deepfreeze program with clients in
education, some automotive & any open public pc. Deepfreeze after
reboot - will put system back to the state it was prior to freezing.
Anything that is done to the pc (spyware, virus, user changes etc) are
reset after reboot. Works great - never have to touch those PC's for
years. They are even running old OS's patch levels before XPsp1 - no
need to update. Kind of makes us look too good - for we never hear back
from them for support unless hardware fails (hehe).

Perhaps a better solution is something that resets the whole system
drive to a pre-infected state. I would recommend First Defense ISR by
LeapFrog software. This allows you to boot back to a capture snapshot of
the system at will. You can even schedule the creation of the snapshot,
or, simply have the system drive restored to the known good image at
each boot...

Spyware / Trojans have been a major issue for me. I recently had some
kind
of pop up add that I could not remove with ad aware, spybot, spycop, or
any
virus scanner. Ended up using "hijackthis" and found it was attached to
IE
at startup but of course it wasn't in any of the normal startup registry
places. If you know you have a infected PC give "hijackthis" a
try...seach
on google and you should find it (can't recall where I found it).

I actually wasn't referring to this for a Citrix solution...just for
general
desktop deployment to my clients. I think either AV companies need to
step
up big time against Spyware or it's only a matter of time till we're all
running AV and anti-Spyware agents on all systems.

Trend is starting to do this but the detection and cleaning of Spyware
leaves much to be desired. (Trend is still my #1 recommendation for AV
though)

Interesting idea though about mapping the admin share and scanning
remotely.

Not sure... I don't run it on my Citrix server. You might want to
contact
the vendor (www.sunbelt-software.com or www.pestpatrol.com) to inquire
about
specifics in a TS/Citrix environment.

What I HAVE done is map a drive to the admin share on the Citrix server
and
run the program from another machine. It identifies and removes the
tracking cookies for multiple users.

Does this program install and protect all user accounts on a termserver
in
live autoprotect?

I've used PestPatrol for a couple years now. I think it compliments
Spybot
or AdAware. None of these programs are 100% effective 100% of the time.

PestPatrol 5.0 Corporate Edition has just been released and offers a
central
console to manage implementation and auto-installation in a network
environment. It looks very capable.

Anyone hear of www.pestpatrol.com

I'm looking for feedback on this software if anyone has used it.

Specifically, I'm looking for comparisons to AdAware and Spybot.
