Hi!

This behavior is pretty common in Exchange 5.5 when you want to move large
boxes.

I find Exmerge is the way to do it.
Use a 2 step merge
Copy data to pers folders
Click Options at the mailserver page
Tab "Data" select everything
Tab "Import procedure" click "archive"
The other 3 tabs are non-important in this scenario.

After the archiving has completed you can move the mailbox to the other
server and use exmerge to import the stuff again.

Don't actually delete the mailboxes. You will lose security and delegation
information.

Sometimes Exmerge is unable to find the mailbox after a move action on the
new server. Send the user an email. Restart Exmerge and you should be able
to see the mailbox in the program.

Good luck next week!

Regards,
Jeroen

See my reply. I had mine just stop with large boxes. One I tried to
leave overnight (and over a weekend) and never did it finish, But by
having them remove 20-25% of their box it took less than a couple of
hours.

It could have been bad messages or something I never did nail it down
other than to have them clean up their boxes..

That was a nice conversation by the way, "Oh, uh, Mr. president of the
Company, can you please clean out about 300 meg of junk mail and jokes
from your mailbox? It should only take about 3 hours of your time. Thank
you"

If they are large mailboxes they may take up to an hour to move...or
longer...If you get no errors then it is not done moving the mail boxes.

Subject: [THIN] OT: Can't move exchange mailboxes

I have 2 servers in a site. We are trying to move all the mailboxes
from the older server to the newer one so we can bring the older one
down. We were able to move all but 3 mailboxes. When we try to move the
last 3 they just run for a while then stop. No errors nothing. Has
anyone got any ideas why this is?
