Many of these apps have free trials, as an example: http://manageengine.adventnet.com/products/eventlog/download.html?free Surely you could write your own script for this, but there are certainly seem to be many software solutions out there to accomdate this need. Looks like the windows scripting guy did some work on this already too :), but his refrence here doesn't cover sending notifications via script, only monitoring for a specific event. http://www.microsoft.com/technet/scriptcenter/resources/qanda/aug05/hey0 816.mspx HTH ~Lan On 7/11/07, Cwalinski, Zygmunt <zcwalinski@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote: Unfortunately we use Advanced Edition :-( Thanks, Zygmunt Cwalinski, System Analyst Network Services 905-281-5583 ________________________________ From: thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Joe Shonk Sent: 10-07-2007 5:43 PM To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [THIN] Re: Monitoring connection to license server Resource Manager can be setup to email alerts. There can be several reasons causing connection issues with license server like rule changes on a firewall. In this case ping is not the best tool. The easiest way for me is to write a script which will monitor Windows Event Log and send an email in case there is a new event 9015 but it would be nice not to spend additional time to do it if there is a ready to go tool.
