Thanks Mike. Sounds like may have to map the printer manually within user session the old fashioned way. Sounds like Metaframe 1.8 days. :) -----Original Message----- From: Mike Semon [mailto:msemon@xxxxxxx] Sent: Thursday, August 18, 2005 9:54 AM To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [THIN] Re: MF XP FR3 Import printers feature There are numerous gotchas with importing print servers. Seen some of these same issues with a client that imported their print servers. Mapping default printer was one of the problems. Mapping through logon script is better way if possible. Assigning, a user, permission to the Imported Network Print Server does not automatically ensure the user the right to actually print to the printer. These permissions merely allow the user to autocreate the object within the userâs profile. Additionally, because the object is created within the context of the userâs profile, the administrator cannot view these objects from the Citrix Management Console or through the Printers folder. It may be necessary to shadow a user in a desktop session to further troubleshoot this issue. Have just begun to experiment with this feature as one site with a lot of users on same local LAN as Citrix box. What I found though was if you import a print server it brings in all the printers setup on that server - once I assign users to a specific printer and create a Citrix policy to not map local printers(I assumed this is way to do without reading any docs) users print to these imported printers - trouble is they seem to default to using the first printer listed among those imported even though I have not added those users to the printer âlisted firstâ and I have added them to another printer and they are included in the Citrix policy.
